After an update and package download I can not access the terminal or manage the firewall after typing in my root password.
The terminal and firewall just do not appear on the screen. Is there any way to fix this?? Thanks!!

Change the the theme in gtk theme cuz, maybe a gtk update broke something. With the little amount of info given. That is the best I can do.

I re-installed Antix 12. I ran an apt-get update. I went to the synaptip package manager and downloaded the 978 files for two days.
When the files were installing every once in a while a warning would be issued and then a check the terminal for;
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders. The installation froze up at the flash player and my computer froze up too. I had to unplug it to
unfreeze it. I used parted magic to delete the Antix partition and re-installed Antix again. I ran the apt-get update but I am not
going to update the packages until next weekend. Is there an Antix 13 os??

Dialup is killing you during the update cycle. I get your problem now. Phone lines in NYC suck at the best of times.
