Hello:
There is M11 folder in the board yet, so I'll post my M11 question here. Sorry for the confusion.

I've installed M11 in one laptop and it works great. I decided to use the separate home partition option during install since the help blurb said it wouldl make updating easier. Does it?

I'm planning to update my work laptop and wanted some advice. I was thinking of doing of creating different partitions, install M11 in one (regular install with home in the same partition) and then use one of the partitions for data/documents storage. My thinking is that data/documents are"distribution free" and right now I have everything in 1 partition. By having it's own partition, I can keep my data/documents and not overwrite during an upgrade.

However, if having home in another partition does work well, then I could keep my rc files in that partiton when upgrading and not worry (as I have to now) of saving them so that I don't have to create them all from sratch again.

So, my question: what's the better option??

1) different data partition but same root/home?
2) different data, different home, different root?

thanks

Pedro

If you have only one os and one user then just separate / and /home is enough, otherwise better as you said: /, /home and (shared) data.
