Hi friends,
I have never used the antiX Advert-blocker, normally I used the Iceweasel addons Adblock Edge+Ghostery.
Which is your advice? Is it better to use Advert-blocker than the previous addons?
If it is yes I have some questions:
1- Which services should I select? mvps.org, sysctl.org, yoyo.org? UNBLOCK?
2- Should I unnistall the addons?
Thanks.

Not answering your question really, but I use AdblockPlus.

I use NoScript. I don't think there is one-size-fits-all.

Hi friends,
then the antiX Advert-Blocker doesn't improve the protection? __{{emoticon}}__
I tried NoScript time ago it is very good but it was all the time annoying me with all his possibilities... I am a bit lazy for configure it.
What do you think? Ghostery is not necessary with AdblockPlus (or Edge) ?

I forget this... In Adblock Edge I added 2 filters list more, now I have:
- Easylist (default)
- Malware domains
- Adblock warnings Removal list

Aleph, I would also add"Easy Privacy" subscription for the AdblockEdge extension and that should cover the"lazy" needs.
The advertBlock tool, no I don't care to use it.
Back in the day, employing HOSTS blockfiles was a good idea; nowadays it's a relatively crude (IMO futile) approach.
The yoyo, mvps, etc lists are well-intended... but fall short. Even if you found away to add"shallalist" categorical blocklists (MILLIONS of hostname entries)
into HOSTS via advertBlock, you're left playing whack-a-mole ~~ the range of possible hostnames is vast.
You'll waste time adding"teens.com","
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.teens.com"
linktext was:"www.teens.com"
====================================
","pre.teens.com" to your list... and"teens.net" and"
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.teens.net"

====================================
"
and tomorrow the perps will haave switched to using"wwww.teens.org" and / or"hairy.teens.com" and / or"hairy.teens.pizza"
POINTLESS. Futile.
(and yes,"pizza" is now a valid TLD, along with 500+ others)
(IANA newTLD application fee is $480,000 without any guarantee your application will be approved)
==================
No harm if you have Ghostery loaded alongside AdblockEdge
but bear in mind that we (neither users, nor extension developers) have no assurance of the load order, each startup, of the enabled extensions.
If ABE is loaded first on a given run, it might seem like Ghostery isn't working, isn't finding anything to block... or vice versa.
OTOH, Ghostery in"keeping counts" of what it has detected blocked, sometimes lies (takes credit for something another extension has ALREADY blocked).

Thank you skidoo for your answer, very instructive and clear!
I will forget then the antiX Advert Blocker, it seem that is a tool a bit older.
Also I will delete Ghostery, and keep ABE or ABP with the 3 filters list as the"lazy" way __{{emoticon}}__
Regards and thank you one more time!
