How do I add a remote printer to my antiX 13 installation?
Under Control Center -> Hardware there is no option for printers. Do I need to install additional features?

Hi
Just a few questions. What install type did you use full/base/core? What desktop are you using? What brand of printer? What type of connection usb/network etc, etc?

I'm using the base distribution with the rox-fluxbox desktop. The printer is a Brother 7065-DN attached by USB to an ASUS-900A netbook running Ubuntu Linux 12.04. I can ping the ths computer, so I think the network is seeing it. If I reboot my computer to Ubuntu I can see the printer and print to it over the network. I can't figure out where the remote printer setup is on AntiX.

unfortunately cups (common unix printing system) is not installed by default in antix-base. You'll need to install it. Then you can configure from the web browser of your choice at //localhost:631
I also use a brother printer over the network. Once you install cups, you will probably need to add your username to the lpadmin group. You can do this in / etc / group (edit as root).

Install cups (apt-get update && apt-get install cups) then in your browser go to localhost:631.
There you can add a printer by scanning the network or manually setting it up.
I am not sure if you will need to get the brothers driver from their website being that it is shared by Ubuntu. If it does not find it may be try adding the driver. If it still doesn't find it I would boot your Ubuntu install that you are talking about and see what it has for a printer line. Copy it and try poking that into the antix install. If the line begins with smb:// as it may if that is how Ubuntu shares it then samba client packages will need to be installed.
Oops sniped by DO.
I to use a brother printer but it connects directly to the network not through another pc.

Thanks that worked!
After install cups I went to print something, it already knew about the printer I wanted to use. Easier than I thought.
