Hi! I am new to the forum. I am a Linux novice and I am also new to antiX. AntiX has revived a really old Dell laptop to usefulness, but I could not figure out how to add a battery meter for it. And all of those config files are daunting. (Although I had to edit one of them later anyway.) Also, I noticed that in several reviews of antiX, the lack of a battery meter was mentioned. It's such a small thing, but it is missed.

So, through trial and error, this is how I got it to work for me. Please feel free to correct whatever I have done wrong.

1. Go to menu > Applications > System Tools > Synaptic Package Manager and type in your password.

2. Search for fdpowermon. Right click and select Mark for installation. Click Apply at the top. Click through the installation process.

3. Open antiX Control Center (bottom left). Click on Edit IceWM Settings. Click on the Startup tab at the top. Near the bottom of the file add this line:

Code: Select all

fdpowermon &
I put it right after"volumeicon &" and then saved the file.

4. Restart antiX.

5. Jake's your uncle.

You probably don't have to restart, but what the heck.

Anyway, this made me ridiculously happy when it finally worked at 2:30am. I love love love antiX. I hope this little post helps someone.

PS. I tried to do this with Conky first, but could not get it to work.

Works in conky; in .conkyrc you just copy the line down to where you want it, & remove the #. __{{emoticon}}__
