Hi,
I'm down, please how to set Abiword and/or relative system cfg. for proper function ?
All the text in a document /new or opened/ is garbled and unreadable, i.e. microsized
and overlapped.
Changing the font, font size, zoom level, page etc. settings don't help.
The sample text in the font selection dialog is perfect. Leafpad works without problems.
All under initial language and locales.
Thanx
Abiword

Either install msttcorefonts or use something like Bitstream Vera. Best to install the devil IMO.

Hi,
very simple solution - just install proper fonts, so simple I wonder why it is not a part
of basic installation /space ?/, at least a note/rem/info, otherwise Abiword is cripple.
Anyway many thanx for advice - even I spent lot of time about paths, configs, displayfonts etc.

Hi, the reason why it is not part of the basic installation has to do with legal reasons in some countries.
The same with dvd playback.

I had the same thing happen to me. Microfonts, overlapping all that stuff. Then I tried using different fonts such as Sans or Ariel. Try that and see if it works for you. It fixed my problem. Good luck!

Did anyone ask the question... In AntiX 7.2 the Abiword fonts worked just fine out of the box. So why not in AntiX 7.5?

Glad I found this thread. It saved me from making an ass out of myself by returning the new antiX 7.5 DVD in the November Linux Format (congrats, Anti!). I'd just upgraded to antiX 7.2 from 6.5 (I'm, like, the last holdout). Well, 7.2 runs like a dream on my Dell Latitude cpx, so I thought I'd really get back in the swim of the forum by going all the way with 7.5.
But the Abiword glitch was a show-stopper. I got the same problem on separate boxes and figured it was a corruption of the disk or a major bug in Abiword.
I'm glad to hear it's just a font adjustment. But like howagood I wonder why it didn't show up before. And here's a curious upshot: disappointment with Abi got me looking deeper into 7.5 and I discovered that (for my purposes, anyway) there just isn't enough difference from my beautiful install of 7.2. So I'll be sticking with that while happily waiting to see what 8.0 final will look like.
Edit: What the hell, I went ahead and jumped to 7.5. Some of that work on the control center was too good to pass up, and the difference in Abiword (once the font problem goes away) is too dramatic to ignore (plug-ins, file filters). Besides, I spent $17 for the magazine...
