My father gave me an old IBM Thinkpad eight years ago. I tried many distros and kept getting frustrated because none of them worked properly. Most of the problems were associated with RAM being gobbled up so fast that I was unable to shutdown the computer the traditional way (i.e. through the menu).
I would try a distro, get frustrated, and the machine would go into the closet. Rinse and repeat for eight years.
I decided to give it one more try and if I ended up in failure, then I'd sell my old machine.
Today I used Distrowatch to run some advanced queries in an attempt to find a distro that would work. After about an hour of searching and reading I found AntiX. I downloaded the 16.2-386 image to my iMac, used Etcher to make a bootable USB, booted my Thinkpad with the USB which loaded AntiX into RAM, ran the super-easy installer, and have been using my machine all day. This is the fastest I've ever been able to get a distro on my Thinkpad. Not only that, it's the only distro that works properly on my Thinkpad!!!!
A truly amazing job on this distro. Thank you so much for a wonderful product. I wrote a positive review over at Distrowatch and if there is anything else that I can do to show my appreciation, then let me know.
Thanks again.
