I've been happily using antix on my eeepc now for a while. My boy has started using it to play .swf (flash) games on it through IceApe and although good, it can sometimes struggle a bit in full screen.
I was wondering if anyone had some tips to get a version of antix running in a way that would improve the running of his flash games?
For example I came across something that said you could drop into console mode and launch the browser with xinit iceape, but this gives a"fatal server error".

Any tips are appreciated __{{emoticon}}__

What model eeepc? Mine (eeepc 900) for reference

are you running vesa or inte or whatever chip your eeepc uses for a video driver on your eeepc

Code: Select all

$ inxi -G
Graphics: Card: Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller
           X.Org: 1.11.1.902 drivers: intel (unloaded: fbdev,vesa) Resolution: 1024x600@59.5hz
           GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel 915GM x86/MMX/SSE2 GLX Version: 1.4 Mesa 7.11.1
What version of AntiX 11 also, Full,Base.or Core iso? How much ram do you have on that eeepc? Mine on this one is 2gig. On my eeepc 701 I have 1gig of ram. Same Celeron processor in Both.

Code: Select all

$ inxi
CPU~Single core Intel Celeron M (-UP-) clocked at 900.146 Mhz Kernel~2.6.36-1-mepis-smp i686 Up~1:50 Mem~311.7/2016.4MB HDD~20.2GB(17.9% used) Procs~107 Client~Shell inxi~1.7.27
Curious about .swf game that stutters. Gotta link?
I'll test it, (though not a gamer type myself, I suck at games), to see if it stutters on my eeepc 900.

I run Seamonkey 2.5 static and Iron Browser static in /home on mine with

Code: Select all

Flash - Version: 10.3.183
Shockwave Flash 10.3 r183

).

IceApe: 2.0.14

Actually, I think I was wrong to say the game stutters, but more like it slows down at certain parts.

Do you think I would get better performance if I switched to IronBrowser/Chrome?

Does the base and core builds of antix feature wlan dhcp connectivity? I was thinking I could just install a browser + X or some other graphics system on a minimal antix build.

My Base install and Core Installs both connect to wpa2 home network just fine. I run Wicd in all my installs though.

You can try the iron browser .deb at their sie I guess to see if there is a improvement. I did not see any intel driver i your inxi readout so not sure if you are getting everything out of your video chip that you can get. You might get more info from inxi -G command instead.

I keep my EEEPCs and AntiX 8.5 and AntiX 11 core,base,and full installs all current with apt-get
update && apt-get dist-upgrades. My Boxes have more horsepower than yours also when it comes to ram
also.

The player also has a really neat bookmark feature, so once you open a .swf, you can bookmark it for fast reference next time.
