1. I tried installing the nvidia driver from the mepis utility (which worked fine for me in the most recent version of mepis), but this time I get a kernel panic error. Are there any known issues or other steps I need to follow to get it working?
2. How do I set Icewm as my default wm? I have to either hit f1 at the login screen or switch after I log in as it is now.
2a. When I login to Icewm right after reboot, Wicd is supposed to be in the tray, but it opens a window in the upper left corner instead of being in the tray like it's supposed to. If I log out and log back in it corrects itself.
3. Is there a graphical utility for setting up cron jobs that works well with antix?
4. This one isn't really an antix question, but what is everyone's favorite cli podcatcher that supports downloading to specific directories for each podcast and lets you set the number of episodes to keep while deleting old ones?
Thanks everyone, I really like AntiX so far!

To answer number 2 you can go here

1. Best to use the smxi/sgfxi script, already installed in antiX.
If in desktop, Ctrl Alt F1
Login as root
sgfxi
Follow instructions.

gcrontab3.Is there a graphical utility for setting up cron jobs that works well with antix?
podget. I believe it uses cron.4. This one isn't really an antix question, but what is everyone's favorite cli podcatcher that supports downloading to specific directories for each podcast and lets you set the number of episodes to keep while deleting old ones?

I've attached a screenshot and would love to hear if anyone knows how to fix it!

I too am experiencing similar behavior, though logging out and back in does not help. Also, there is a entry for the blank square on the taskbar. Neither the blank square or the taskbar entry can be closed, killed or otherwise gotten rid of.flammen wrote: 2a. I think this may be due to a bug in the tray. I've read that the bug was fixed, but since we're using the testing branch of debian, we may have a newer, buggier version. Also, icewm has trouble launching wterm with certain options - the windows aren't drawn correctly. Again, I think it's a slightly buggy icewm.
Note: I've also had some tray icon problems with lxpanel.

Thanks John,
At least it's (most likely) a bug and not something I broke, which makes me feel a little better. I'll keep an eye on it and see if the behavior changes over time.

I just dist-upgrade with smxi and there was a wicd upgrade. The tray icon is gone but there seems to be a place holder in my xfce tray for it. There must be a problem with this version. When prompted for which config files I want I chose to keep mine, maybe I should have chose the maintainers version?
Will look more later.
update: just noticed that wicd will not start from the control center either.
update2: as root in terminal /usr/lib/wicd/wicd-daemon.py to start wicd then logout and back in(do not reboot) and the tray icon appears. When reboot no icon. Wicd show it's starting in the boot screen but the daemon doesn't actually start. Will try to find out why later.

eriefisher: I did the same thing as you. I dist-upgraded with smxi and chose to use my current version of config files, and I'm experiencing the exact same behaviour as you are. My internet connection is working fine though, but I just can't get wicd to even open. I'll play around with it some more when I get off work. Hopefully we'll be able to get it working again.

What if you try
apt-get remove --purge wicd
apt-get install wicd
and choose Y for all the wicd options?
I don't use wicd so I can't test it out (no wireless)
Edit: Ok, if you wish to upgrade wicd or you have already done so, follow this.
1. apt-get remove --purge wicd
2. Remove wicd from /opt folder
3. apt-get install wicd
4. Open a terminal to check all is working type wicdtrayicon.sh

I haven't tried that in the terminal, but I will when I get home after work.
I did try to remove it using synaptic and I kept getting an error and it wouldn't remove.

Yeah, it won't remove and wifi-radar won't install with it there.
@anti: doesn't work.
