Disclaimer:

Just doing this for the hell of it. I'll probably reinstall base as I aint to happy with the full iso and starting everything from command line.
Unistalled slim and installed kdm. kdm bitched that"only root can start kdm" so I uninstalled kdm. Starting this up fro command line but, I
had to install xterm first before it would startkde with.

Code: Select all

startx startkde
edit: I put in ~/.xinitrc_custom at the bottom of the file

Code: Select all

exec startkde
now at init 3 command line login I can start kde with

Code: Select all

xinit startkde

enough of the history. This is just for info on the kde install on a full iso install.

Code: Select all

Conky can explain the rest in screenshot. Laptop is a Acer Aspire 5534.

Edit Blew this away Friday 8 Feb 2013 for a AntiX 13 64bit base install. Like I said. This was
done to see what would happen.
