Last time I rebooted I selected Fluxbox as my session; entered my username; entered my password and hit enter. Tried this multiple times but kept getting thrown back to the login screen so I eventually dropped to TTY1 and logged in from there, then issued startx.
Any idea what that's about, or where should start to troubleshoot it?

Try to reinstall video drivers with

url was:"http://smxi.org/site/install.htm"
linktext was:"smxi"

.
A few days ago i started to use my autologin script instead of a display manager. When the script crashed during beta testing with an unhandled error, it caused an automatic logout. Last year I had video driver issues: lightdm showed up, but X crashed when I tried to login to any desktop, and the login screen appeared again and again. It was solved with smxi.
