OK - I give up! Some nights ago I was running anti-X on vbox. I found the (presumably .config or rc) file which had a line causing F10 to jump to the top LH (facing) menu item on roxterm - the 'Edit' option. I #'d it out and can now use F10 to exit MC (which I use a lot for simple file management) for anti-X running under vbox on the Samsung. Like a fool I thought"Oh! I'll remember that file. I'll change it on the netbook tomorrow." and went to bed.

Of course, I didn't remember the filename. I've worked thru' my bash_history and can't find it, I can only assume I used the rox-filer to access it & have no record of it (that I can find) on my system.

Can anyone tell me the filename I need to access.

Thanks in advance

Right click on the roxterm window. Select Preferences --> Edit Current Profile. Then choose Keyboard and then"Disable menu access key". If your menus are not hidden then start out by selecting the"Preferences" menu. On my system this is not perfect because the context menu pops up but I am able to close mc by hitting <F-10> then <Esc> then <Enter>,

Here, this odd combination of keys works to close mc, ESC+Backspace+F10

Drifting a little further off topic...
On a whim I tried just Backspace+F10 and this also closes mc.

Thanks BitJam. Eugh! I should have found the Preferences --> Edit Current Profile route myself. Getting old!

Thanks SamK also! Some strange stuff - but what I wanted was mc to work the same on both machines.
