First: before you start setting up MX-14.4, are you aware that the new MX-15 has just been released?

Second: antiX MX is quite a bit different than the other antiX flavors, and uses Xfce's Settings Manager (and to a certain extent MX Tools) instead of the Control Center. There is an icon for that on the default panel, and another one at the top of the Start menu.
Third: again, antiX MX is different here in that it does not come with a Conky version already defined. To get Conky, follow the basic directions in the Users Manual (Alt-F1, then use Ctrl-F to find them) and

.conkyrc is a hidden file, Ctrl+h will show it.

Only after conky has been installed, right? MX Linux does not come with conky installed by default, so that file is not there.Shay wrote:.conkyrc is a hidden file, Ctrl+h will show it.

I cheated.
Booted ti AntiX-15
Opened File
Ctrl+h
found .conkyrc and copied to usb stick.
MX-15
Inserted stick
Open file manager
R-clicked the USB stick and mounted it.
Open stick
Ctrl+h and drug .conkyrc to my name in file manager
Open Synaptic Package manager
Toward top right is search
[type in] conky and click ok
Right click conky_all and select to install, follow the prompts to install it.
When done
Hit home button and type in conky
select the run conky and it will sart up.
I do NOT have conky set up to start automatically on this usb stick.
That is the basic, need to do more study and testing myself.

congratulations for working it out.
for future reference, a caution:
conky v1.10 (currently in debian testing repository) introduces a new Lua-based conkyrc configuration format.
Idunno what great improvements the newer conky version might bring (nothing i need, eh); not interested in
dealing with a new config format/syntax, so I'll pin the older version to prevent updates.

What is missing on antiX conkyrc is a sensors monitor. The easiest variable for it is {hwmon temp 2}°C. Instead of 2 there might be 0 or 1 or ...

If it even has sensors that can be read. This laptop does not.
