I noticed this morning after I reloaded synaptic that there were new packages available. One of which is the linux-image-2.6.24-1 series of kernels. Has anyone tried to move to one of these kernels? Do you think there might be any improvement upgrading.
I ask because of the sound issues and such I see here and the Mepislovers forum. I have an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ and thought I might try the linux-image2.6.24-1-686 kernel to see what happens.

Give it a try, but you may have to install the headers too and make some modules ie alsa.
Let us know how you get on.

Well I tried it but could not boot to it. I'm not sure why. I'm going to load Antix XFCE into VB and try to play with it.

Any luck? And how DO you change kernels? Just pick one if its in Synaptic?
I know Serenitude is working on one at Mepislovers for Mepis 7. Can it work in antiX if he gets it right?

I never pursued it any further to find out. I did see the thread about the new kernel Serenitude is working on and will try it.
